Signs of a good vendor
- It starts by asking about your process, not by showing its technology stack.
- It delivers a written scope that you can read and understand.
- It shows verifiable work: its own products, cases, or real clients.
- It explains who will work on your project and how progress is communicated.
- The code and documentation remain in your company's name.
Questions for the first meeting
- How do you define and validate scope before developing?
- What happens if the project needs changes halfway through?
- How do you deliver the system: code, access, documentation?
- What does maintenance include after delivery?
Red flags
- A closed quote without having mapped the process.
- Promises of exact deadlines on the first call.
- No cases, no products, no visible team.
- Total dependence on the vendor: they do not deliver code or documentation.
